NYC with Parents in Tow

Last weekend my parents came to visit New York, so despite being fairly new to the area, I played the de-facto tour guide.

Along the way, I had a couple of opportunities to snap a bit with my little G10.

Enjoy!

News Literacy Conference at Stony Brook University

Last week I had the good fortune to photograph the News Literacy Conference at Stony Brook University.

It was a fantastic learning experience.  The whole concept is that they're trying to develop ways to teach people how to be better news consumers.  With the internet, people now have access to many many more sources of news, and some are more legit than others, and so the goal is to teach  people how to tell the difference.  To find out more specifics on what news literacy means, click here to visit Stony Brook's news literacy site.

To figure all of this out, the conference brought out some really interesting folks to discuss the topic, including executives past and present from NPR, NBC, CBS, and the New York Times, educators and university leaders, as well as some personalities like Ted Koppel.

Enjoy!
